How do I promote a link?

I would like to promote an affiliate link. I am not selling a product but access to a new free review site. Can anyone tell me the correct and best way to do this? Any advice would be gratefully received.

The best way to get a link out there, is to distribute it mannually, send the site in to directory submissions, or send out an article with the link in it.
