Default Gene Schwartz's Breakthrough Advertising

Hey All,

FYI -- Since this month's issue of The Screaming Eagle delves deeply into Gene's book Breakthrough Advertising Wendy talked to Brian Kurtz over at Boardroom and he's letting us make the book available to everyone.

So if you haven't grabbed a copy yet, you can check it out here:

Gene Schwartz's Breakthrough Advertising

It's about the only book I've seen that really explains the cycle of markets and how to talk to prospects at various stages of market sophistication.

John

The states of awareness and sophistication are the two topics I really pulled from Schwarz's book. Other books don't even touch on it... yet it's really something to consider when writing to any given market.

Just a quick note - the June edition of The Screaming Eagle is the perfect supplement to "Breakthrough Advertising."

I waited over 20 years to get a copy of the book - and it is the best advertising and marketing guide ever.

But....you have to read it at least 3 times - the first time you are stunned with all the stuff. The second time you get dozens of "ahaa" moments.

Then on the third time - you really start to use the techniques - because by now you have "wired" them in to your writing.

And again the "Sceaming Eagle" edition on the book is a brilliant back - up.

Default hi

What an interesting way to get people interested in reading! Book trailers are like movie trailers, but for books! You can find them all over the internet now, but here is a site that's featuring them on YouTube. YouTube - cosproductions's Channel

So... what other favorites people have out there?

In addition to the "classics" (Schwartz, Ogilvy, Caples, Hopkins, etc.), I really enjoyed Being Direct by Lester Wunderman. And The Copywriter's Handbook by Bob Bly is a must for every copywriter's bookshelf.

...which reminds me, I think there's an updated version I need to get my hands on.
