Hey Folks,
If you’ve got a blog would you post a link so the rest of us can check it out? I’d love to know how you’re using it and how having a blog has helped you or your business out. And I’m sure a lot of other Total Package readers would love to see it too. I've been playing around with a Wordpress blog on the side recently between frantic days of trying to keep up with the mountains of cools things going on over here at The Total Package. I’ll post it up when it’s ready. And if you're using wordpress what plugins have you found to be essential, helpful and\or just really cool. Plus, I'd love to hear about some of the most effective ways you've found to build traffic to your blog. Thanks, John

Way back when, a gentleman by the name of John Jantsch asked people if they want to start blogging under his ducttapemarketing.com blog 'channel'. At the time, he was one of the first to offer multiple writers and subjects under one main portal.
Since then it has grown exponentially. We have been written up by Forbes, American Express, Hewlett Packard - to name a few. That, plus all the awards it has won. I write specifically for the advertising and small business marketing section. But there are bloggers on branding, crm, sales, referrals, new media, ethics, management, neighborhood marketing - and so on. The content is immense! The main portal for the blog is Duct Tape Marketing Blog - Voted Best Small Business Marketing Blog Have a look see - mine is the Word Wealth one. My posts have dropped recently (I used to post 3-5 times a week, but demand on my time has grown exponentially, so those are down to 1 a week or so). I love writing for it - just need to make more time for it. Have a look at all the expert columns on there. Troy |

I started one up a few weeks ago to learn about a bit about - and get a feel for - blogging.
Since I'm in the midst of making the leap from 3 year moonlighter to full-time freelance copywriter I decided to create a blog that shares my 'small business leap' experiences with other people who have - or want to - make a similar life-changing leap... You know, share the tips and know-how I've gained as well as the ups and downs I've encountered along the way. And the leap to self-employment is just the start. As it progresses it'll also cover 'making the leap' from one level of small biz success to the next... and the next... and the next. The blog site is: The Small Business Leap (www.smallbusinessleap.com) If you have any comments or suggestion to help make the site grow - or any questions it - I'd be VERY happy to hear them. |

I have three blogs, actually.
My personal one: John Platt My blog for environmental activism: Extinction Blog And my archive for previously published articles, essays and book reviews: The John Platt Article Library The last has been a big boon for my writing career lately. Very little of my work was online, or easily accessible, so I have been showing it to editors and potential clients, and it helped me to land me three new assignments this week alone. John |

I have had my blog up for a couple of years now, and use it
mainly to connect with my ezine readers and client base. When I send out my ezine, I'll use one of my posts to add content, and provide them with the link back to my blog so they can continue to read. Vision Of Success Blog I like keeping things short, and providing people with ways to come back into my site. Lori Osterberg VisionOfSuccess.com |

I kind of reinvigorated a blog I started awhile ago.
It's at Marketing and Copywriting Blog So far, posting interesting articles or introductions to articles seems to be working to draw traffic. For instance, a technique I recently blogged about, which I call "Contentus Interruptus." It's about getting more leads and signups from squeeze pages. My blog actually serves as my newsletter's archive - whatever article I send out to my subsciber's then appears in the blog - kills too birds with one stone.

I have a blog called 60 Second Ideas
The Blog focuses on creative or unusual ideas from around the world that entrepreneurs are making money with. I like to say that many of these ideas can be copied or borrowed in other communites or online with someone's own unique spin. Often these ideas will just inspire to create and act upon your own creative business ideas. A unique twist to this blog is that I often create a short video that corresponds to the idea and blog post. As for how it has worked for me? After a year it has a small following and some good comments. I get a few subscribers each week to build my list by giving away a free ebook. I just launched a product on the same theme and it will be interesting to see how the blog helps with that. I will let you know. |

Thanks for posting everyone, I really appreciate it. I've been digging through several of these blogs and finding some really cool stuff. I'm going to have to spend some more time this weekend because I get drawn in and want to check everything out.
I also found this on Michel Fortin's blog that I thought was really useful info: Mazimize exposure with these tips and plugins Including 15 'must-have' plugins for wordpress blogs. Barry, I like your idea for using your blog as an article repository. And I have to say, after going over to your main site I think you've got one of the best "about me" sections I've read on a copywriter's site - extremely personal and captivating stuff. I love it. And having a 'send this page to friend' link on your samples page is brilliant. I'd love to see some more blogs if anyone's got 'em. John
