Welcome Scott,

And, nice video on your home page. We were talking about having Clayton do something similar for The Total Package -- basically a video introduction.

Anyway, great site and glad you're here Scott!
John

Default Thanks John & Kyle

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your feedback.

Hey John I have a question for you and the other experienced copywriters.

Do you recommend putting samples of your work on your website for potential customers to look at?

I love to hear your suggestions on this.

Have Fun

Scott Wilson

Hey Scott,

I don't think there is a simple answer to that question.

I look at your website and I think one of the strongest ways to use your samples is to build them into case studies based on your testimonials.

I'd hazard a guess that the folks you are targeting are more interested in seeing the overall results of campaigns you've worked on rather than simply how strong your copy is.

So, you tell the story of the success you created for your clients and map out exactly how you did it, possibly have before/after screenshots of landing pages with the difference in results.

If you were targeting just businesses who traditionally survived and thrived based on direct mail and are now moving to the web then your actual samples become more important. The tend to have strong opinions about what's good copy and like to see what you've written.

Some folks have very passive websites that they aren't driving traffic to, often they're using it just as place to point potential clients to go see their samples.

But in your case, you have to consider the whole process of generating your leads and how you're converting them. And that's why I said use them as part of case studies because then they become stronger credbility elements that help advance the sale, instead of just 'business-card-like-samples'.

And if you just post samples without telling people what to think about them you could get folks judging the copy without understanding the results and without having much experience judging copy.

A long-winded, non-direct answer, I know, hopefully it's helpful

John
