Arrow My first trading print ad copy done - thanks Clayton, Tony

Hey, I just completed my first-ever trading industry print advertisement, a 4-color 1/4 page ad ... lead gen free video as the hook..

I wanted to say again thanks to Clayton and Tony for the "bullets" Screaming Eagle Vol 1, Issue1 , which I referred to extensively while deciding which bullets to craft... used a combination of "What NEVER to do..." as well as "How To's" and other styles...

In compressed print space, coming up with the best hooks and 5-7 word bullets possible is a real challenge, took me hours to come up with the headline, intro, copy and CTA for a small 1/4 page color ad... but I'm sure it'll pull well .. so it's worth it.

It would be great to see ideas for how to write copy for ads, small print spaces, getting the most bang for the buck, copy layout for print etc..

Keep up the great work,

Ken

p.s. I may even upload a copy of the ad, it's a killer, totally fun compared to normal boring trading industry ads, it rocks, loud and larger than life, will help w/my next 200k in sales etc..

and of course thanks too to my mentors Michel Fortin, John Carlton and Dan Kennedy, whom have also been very helpful in showing how to write pro copy ...

Default Forex Print Ad: Rockstar Control

Here's the print ad, it pulled a modest (but winning!) 2.7x ROI, so I'll be re-running it and variants in future issues of the trading magazine (TASC) it appeared in:

http://www.forexonfire.com/fofprintad.jpg

Note the bullet points, I took that from the first issue of the Screamin Eagle, Anthony's brilliant piece on crafting bullets, eg mystery blind fascination re "what never to do.." and others..

kendiana jones, making a fortune in colorado springs...

ken

P.S. WHO can tell me the most important "copy hooks" appearing in that print ad (page 31, TASC Oct 2007 issue, upper righthand corner, peach placement)? the copy deconstruction quiz is on...

cm - thx again for the tip re boulder/sof team, I'll make it up there someday.. miss shooting my glocks and sigs.. (everyone who likes handguns absolutely must own a Sig 227, 9mm it's the best pistol in the world imho... though blackpowder flintlocks are a lot of fun too)..

Congrats on your first print ad. I've read TASC from time to time and most of the ads there are pretty boring.

Dan Kennedy has always said to be "insane" in your business about trying new, untradtional things to get business and to be different... to do the opposite of what your competitors are doing. Looks like your ad is a good step in that direction. It doesn't look like the typical TASC ad.

I would have gone and pushed the envelope a bit farther. My attempt trys to capture the feel of a B movie poster from the 60s using bright comic book colors to catch the eyes. (I wonder how something like this would work for a magalog cover?)

rofl Mr Subtle, hey thanks - now *that's* an ad... if only I could get an animated gif ad into TASC it would sell like hotcakes... thanks for the chuckle my friend, very brilliant work as always on your graphics + copy hooks..! fun stuff!
got my attention...

you should talk to guys like Yanik and Derek G etc to do copy graphics for their companies, they're always on-track and capture attention!
